Dance Showcase: Animethon 2025
Calling all fans of Anisong, Vocaloid, J-pop, K-pop, idol performances, and everything in between! Join us at Animethon’s Dance Showcase, where performers and fans alike come together to celebrate the vibrant dance cultures of East Asia. Whether you're dazzling the stage as a soloist, performing with a group, or cheering from the audience, let’s make this an unforgettable celebration of dance and music!
Dance Showcase will take place in the Entertainment Hall (Hall C) on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Dance Group Application Guidelines
Application Deadlines:
Priority Application Period*: April 7, 2025 – May 25, 2025 11:59 PM MST
Final Application Period: May 26, 2025 – June 30, 2025 11:59 PM MST
(*Applications received before May 25 will be given higher priority for review and acceptance. Applications between May 26 – June 30 will be subject to scheduling.)
Eligibility & Performance Rules:
- Group members may participate in a maximum of two (2) groups during the showcase.
- Groups using stage props must receive a pre-approval from the Dance Showcase Coordinator.
- Musical instruments may only be used as stage props and require prior approval (see previous).
- Dance groups must ensure the stage is clean and free of obstruction after their performance.
- All participants must hold a valid Animethon pass on the day of the Dance Showcase (ie. 3-Day Pass, Ryu Pass, Panelist Pass, etc.).
Application Process:
- The application deadlines are May 25 and June 30, 2025 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time.
- A copy of your application will be sent to the email address provided on the application. Applicants are responsible for the accuracy of the application.
- To make changes, please edit the Google Form copy sent to you.
- Should you have any changes after the application form has been closed on June 30, please email dance@animethon.org by July 5, 2025.
- A dance application does not guarantee your performance will be accepted.
- Panel applications or other event interests must be included in the Dance Showcase Application.
- Final decision emails will be sent out via email by July 7, 2025. Dance groups must respond by July 14, 2025 to confirm their participation.
- Animethon reserves the right to modify application details to accommodate as many performances as possible. You will be notified if changes are required.
Scheduling:
- Identical or near identical performances (multiple groups applying with the same song) will not be permitted. Priority will be given to the group that applies first. If you believe that a particular song will be popular, it is highly recommended to apply as soon as possible!
- Any individual conflicts or other accommodations requested in the Google Forms application will be prioritized based on application date.
- Performance duration will be dependent on the number of accepted entries.
- Historically, the maximum setlist duration has been 10 minutes per group, and 8 minutes for solo or duo performances.
- All group members must be available for the entire duration of the event.
- Group members are not required to attend for the entire duration.
- Groups will be provided with an estimated performance time, and a time slot in which they are expected to be at or beside the stage area.
- Special requests will be reviewed and adjusted / accepted to the best of our ability. See above for priority details.
- If accepted, you will be contacted about the schedule and details of the Dance Showcase no later than July 21, 2025.
Music Submission:
Once you have received an acceptance email, you will be asked to provide your music files in advance. Please email the files to dance@animethon.org by July 31, 2025.
Accepted music formats: Spotify playlist ; Apple playlist ; MP3 files ; WAV format
Please note this music submission is subject to change based on the information provided by our stage team.
Important Information:
- Dance showcase will take place in the Entertainment Hall (Hall C).
- The placement of the stage does not allow performers to loop behind the stage. Any position changes will have to take place on the stage in full view of the crowd.
- Due to time constraints, Dance Showcase will not supply microphones or have a dedicated introduction time for any performance group.
- There is only one shared entry/exit point on the stage. The Dance Showcase Coordinator will provide details closer to the event.
- If you are participating in multiple groups and require an outfit change, please use the public washrooms outside in the foyer. There are no available areas for changing backstage.
- Dimensions of the elevated stage (subject to change) is 32’ wide x 12’ deep x 2’ tall.
