ClariS
In Latin, the name ClariS means "bright, pure, and brilliant".To this date, they have released 28 singles, 4 mini albums, 1 EP, 7 original albums, as well as the best album release, while having many of their songs selected as anime tie-ins.
It all started when anime music magazine “LisAni!” featured ClariS’s CD as a bonus item for their magazine, catching the eye of the animation producer for "OreImo". Although they were new to the anisong music scene, ClariS made their major debut in October 2010, with their single “irony” as the opening theme for the "OreImo" TV anime series. They continued their music career without revealing their identity so that they could prioritize their education.
In February of 2011, their 2nd single “Connect” became the opening theme for the popular anime “Puella Magi Madoka Magica”. Their song surpassed 70 million streams and gained them a huge international audience. After the release of their 3rd album “PARTY TIME” in June 2014, one of the members, Alice, graduated from ClariS.
In November 2014, they announced the addition of their new member Karen through the 19th volume of anime music magazine “LisAni!”, marking the start of their new chapter.
On the 10th anniversary since their major debut, October 2020, the identity of ClariS that was hidden under a veil of mystery was finally revealed on their livestream. In 2022, they released their 6th full album “Parfaitone”, as well as their single “ALIVE” which became the opening theme for the TV anime “Lycoris Recoil”. They also went on air for the first time with their special TV segment “ClariS Shinsho”, appeared on THE FIRST TAKE (performing “Connect” and “ALIVE”), and trended on several social media platforms, making their 10th anniversary year a tremendous success.
In June 2023, they released their cover EP “Samishii Nettaigyo”, which included covers of iconic Wink songs, and made several media appearances, broadening their music career. In May 2024, they released their 28th single “Andante” (TV anime “Spice and Wolf: MERCHANT MEETS THE WISE WOLF” ending theme), then put out their 7th album “Iris”. In October, when they reached their 14th anniversary, they released their mini album “AUTUMN TRACKS” and their full album “ClariS 〜SINGLE BEST 2nd〜” in the same month.
They also started their tour spanning over 3 cities in Japan (5 performances in total) "ClariS AUTUMN TOUR 2024 ~Via Fortuna ~", which became Karen’s last performance, after which she graduated from ClariS.
On January 25th, 2025, at the event "LisAni! LIVE 2025" held at Nippon Budokan, ClariS performed for the first time as their newly formed identity, welcoming Elly and Anna as new members. And so, the 3rd chapter of ClariS officially started as a three-person unit of Clara, Elly and Anna.
